Sweden, Denmark to provide Ukraine with 40 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles
On the occasion of Ukraine's Armed Forces Day, the governments of Sweden and Denmark announced their intention to deliver 40 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine
The Swedish Ministry of Defense reported the information.
The ministry noted that this initiative will be funded through previous contributions from both countries, as well as a contract between the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency and the Danish Ministry of Defense’s Procurement and Logistics Organization with BAE Systems Hägglunds.
Under the agreement, Denmark will receive 115 infantry fighting vehicles, Sweden 50 to replace equipment already sent to Ukraine, and 40 units will go directly to Kyiv. The total contract value is 25 million Swedish kronor (approximately $2.3 million).
Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson noted that these investments will increase the number of Swedish combat vehicles, contributing to enhanced security in both Europe and Ukraine.
“These investments will enable more Swedish combat vehicles to make Europe – and particularly Ukraine – safer. The Swedish defence industry is a unique and strong asset to our national and collective defence capabilities,” he emphasized.
The CV90 infantry fighting vehicles, developed by BAE Systems-Hägglunds, are widely used in the armies of Scandinavian countries, Estonia, and the Netherlands. These vehicles are equipped with reinforced armor capable of withstanding 30-mm shells and a 40-mm L70 Bofors cannon. Sweden previously supplied Ukraine with 50 of these IFVs.
