Kremlin must realize “time of reckoning” nears — analyst on Trump’s 50-day countdown
The “50 days” timeline mentioned by Donald Trump may hint at a new strategy — supplying Ukraine with weapons via Europe while ramping up political pressure on the Kremlin
This opinion was voiced on Espreso TV by Oleksiy Yizhak, an analyst at the National Institute for Strategic Studies.
“The figure of 50 days seems more like a political-technical estimate — a timeframe set by some unknown party, within which Ukraine could be armed to significantly affect the frontline situation. And armed in a way that wouldn’t require U.S. funding,” Yizhak explained.
According to Oleksiy Yizhak, an analyst at the National Institute for Strategic Studies, a likely scenario is taking shape: European countries are purchasing advanced U.S. weapons with the goal of transferring them to Ukraine.
“The idea is for Europeans to buy high-tech American weapons, while producing simpler arms for Ukraine themselves. But all of this takes time — that’s likely why the 50-day figure sounds unusual,” Yizhak explained.
He also believes the timeline carries a political message aimed at Russia. “It signals to those in Russia who want to fight to the bitter end that their ‘day of reckoning’ is approaching — that it’s inevitable. Trump likely expects this pressure will eventually push the Russians to come to him and ask for peace,” Yizhak suggested.
