Al Jazeera reports this with reference to its own sources.
“Greece is about to decommission 32 older F-16 Block-30 fighter jets as it upgrades 82 F-16s to Block-70 and acquires 24 fourth-generation Rafale fighters from France,” the report says.
Thus, Greece prefers the formula for transferring 32 fighter jets to Ukraine - to sell them to the United States for modernization and transfer to Kyiv.
One of the engineers of the Greek Air Force said that the sale of 32 F-16 fighters could create a significant gap in the country's air force.
- On July 10, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Denmark and the Netherlands have already begun the process of transferring F-16s to Ukraine.
- Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva assured that Ukraine already has schedules for the delivery of F-16s from partner countries.
