We will try to bolster Air Defense Forces of Ukraine — Blinken
During a briefing in Oslo on June 1, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken reaffirmed the commitment to provide assistance and support to Ukraine
The briefing was broadcasted on Espreso.
"Our preparations for the Vilnius summit are already underway, focusing on our support for Ukraine in its successful defense against the Russian occupation for the past 15 months. Our key objective is to bolster Ukrainian air defense capabilities and facilitate Sweden's involvement in the NATO family. We recognize the pressing matters at hand and aim to foster unity among all Alliance members and partners. Over the past year and a half, we have witnessed unprecedented solidarity and shared the grief of Ukraine. Since the first day of the full-scale invasion, we have rallied around Ukraine, and our support will persist. We will also continue to enhance the defense capacities of our NATO member countries, and critical next steps will be discussed," stated the Secretary of State.
On June 1, an informal meeting of foreign affairs ministers from 31 NATO member states is taking place in Oslo. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden has also been invited. The meeting serves as preparation for the NATO summit in Vilnius scheduled for July. The Norwegian government's website indicates that discussions will primarily revolve around the continuation of support for Ukraine.
The meeting of ministers is being held at Oslo City Hall, marking Norway's hosting of a NATO foreign ministers' gathering for the first time since 2007.
