We see the beginning of the third phase of the war: Russia defends, Ukraine on the offensive - Polish expert
The scale of Russia's defeat has become obvious, the losses in military manpower and equipment mean that Moscow will not be able to conduct major attacks in the near future.
Konrad Muzyka, an expert of the Polish company Rochan Consulting reports.
In his opinion, Ukrainian forces probably need time to consolidate their positions, which means that last week's lightning advance is over.
"It seems that Ukraine is in an operational pause to restore combat capability after everything that happened in Kharkiv," Muzyka said.
Kyiv's successes mean that Moscow's goal of gaining control over the entire Donbas region is now likely to be impossible in the short term.
In particular, Russia is no longer able to press from the north on such key cities as Slovyansk in the Donetsk region — part of the Donbass — the expert believes.
"Perhaps we see the beginning of the third phase of the war, when Russia will go on the defensive, and Ukraine will conduct a counteroffensive," said Muzyka. - Ukraine is becoming more and more capable of pushing Russian forces back to the February borders. But we are in the early stages of this."
