Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhnyi has congratulated the Poles on Polish Army Day

This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi in telegram.

Today, Poland celebrates Armed Forces Day - the holiday of the Polish Army.

Dear brothers! On behalf of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and myself, I congratulate you on the Day of the Polish Army. In the Battle of Warsaw, your people defended their statehood and saved Europe from the Bolshevik invasion. Poland's ally in that war was the Ukrainian People's Republic," said Valery Zaluzhny  .

Also, Zaluzhny emphasized that today, as 102 years ago, we are once again facing a common centuries-old enemy.

"I am sincerely grateful to the Polish people for their help and support in this difficult time! We are fighting for our freedom and yours! Together we will win!" - added the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in a video message.

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, also congratulated the Poles on the holiday.

"I wish Poland prosperity and harmony and sincerely thank you for the invaluable military assistance and political support. Together we are a force! With such friends and partners as Poland, Ukraine will win, which will bring peace and tranquility to Europe," he wrote on Facebook.

The Day of the Polish Army is dedicated to the memory of the victorious offensive operation since the Battle of Warsaw in 1920, which took place during the Polish-Bolshevik War.

On this day, services are held in all Polish churches in memory of the soldiers who died in battle.

At cemeteries, Poles honor the dead, and at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw, with the participation of the country's president, an Honorary Change of the Guard takes place.

The official page of the President of Poland reported that the main celebrations began at Marshal Józef Pilsudski Square in Warsaw.

"The President and his wife Agatha Kornhauser-Duda take part in a solemn briefing in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The President presented general presentations and state awards," the message reads.

During the speech, Andrzej Duda also mentioned the war in Ukraine.

"Now there is peace in Poland, but we are aware that there is a war on our borders. A historical turning point is happening in front of our eyes. This is a time when the history lessons more than a century ago are becoming very relevant - as a call to loyalty to the highest values, to cooperation in security matters,  freedom and a good future of the Republic of Poland," the message reads.
