“Volunteer units” created in Simferopol to search for saboteurs, while AFU repel over 150 enemy attacks – General Staff

General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated this in the morning report.

"In Simferopol of the temporarily occupied Republic of Crimea, the Russian occupation authorities, fearing the intensification of the pro-Ukrainian movement and the actions of patriotic cells, are creating so-called "voluntary units". It is known that due to the war in Ukraine, there is a certain shortage of law enforcement officers, so, in addition to patrolling the city, one of the tasks of these units should be to identify spotters and saboteurs," the military said.

In particular, the General Staff emphasized that the invading army continues to suffer significant losses in manpower: the tendency for medical institutions to work excessively in the temporarily occupied territories continues. It is noted that recently one of the hospitals in Horlivka received an instruction to increase the number of beds to accommodate the wounded invaders.

Russian army conduct 32 air and 6 missile strikes against Ukraine over the past day

During the day on March 3, the Russian Federation launched 32 air and 6 missile strikes against Ukraine, firing 84 times from multiple launch rocket systems, including at civilian infrastructure.

The General Staff emphasized that the threat of missile attacks remains significant across Ukraine.

AFU repel more than 150 enemy attacks and destroy Su-34 and 8 reconnaissance and strike UAVs

The Russian enemy is focusing its main efforts on conducting offensives in the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk directions.

Thus, over the past day, Ukrainian defenders repelled more than 150 enemy attacks.

At the same time, Ukrainian aviation carried out 14 strikes on the areas of concentration of Russian troops and military equipment, as well as 2 strikes on anti-aircraft missile systems at firing positions. Ukraine’s defenders also shot down an enemy Su-34 aircraft and 8 reconnaissance and attack UAVs of various types.

The missile and artillery units, in their turn, hit a control center, 3 enemy concentration areas, an ammunition depot, 2 fuel and lubricant depots, and an enemy electronic warfare station.

Situation in different directions

The operational situation at the northern and northeastern Ukrainian borders with Russia and Belarus remained unchanged, no enemy offensive groups were detected. Over the past day, the enemy fired on 1 settlement in Chernihiv region; 11 in Sumy region and areas near 10 settlements in Kharkiv region. 

In the Kupiansk and Lyman directions, the enemy unsuccessfully conducted offensives in the areas of Kreminna and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and Spirne and Vesele in Donetsk region. It fired artillery shells at areas near the contact line. In particular, these are 3 settlements in Kharkiv region; 5 in Luhansk region and 3 in Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues its attempts to encircle the city of Bakhmut. Over the past day, Ukrainian troops repelled numerous attacks in the vicinity of 5 localities in Donetsk region. 15 settlements and the city of Bakhmut came under enemy fire.

In the Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk directions, Russian occupying forces unsuccessfully attacked the positions of Ukraine’s army near 9 settlements. They fired artillery and mortar shells in the vicinity of almost 30 settlements. Among them – the towns of Avdiivka and Vuhledar in the Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy is on the defensive. In some areas, the Russian forces are trying to improve the tactical situation and create conditions for a renewed offensive. They fired artillery shells near more than 25 settlements in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv regions and the city of Kherson. There are killed and wounded among the civilians.
