Zelenskyy: Ukraine needs ceasefire, security guarantees for elections
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes that Ukraine can hold elections, but only after achieving a ceasefire and under conditions of security guarantees
He said this during a broadcast on FoxNews.
The president stated that Ukraine is ready to hold elections. According to Zelenskyy, all that is needed are security guarantees and support from partners.
"All we need is security to hold the elections. We are ready. Under a ceasefire, we can hold elections. Even if it is difficult according to our Constitution. We can. With security guarantees from our partners, of course," explained the president.
Political scientist Vadym Denysenko noted that Ukrainian politics remains in the logic of an election campaign, even in the absence of real prospects for their being held in the near future.
The head of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine, Oleksii Koshel, explained that despite the ban on holding elections during martial law, different scenarios are being discussed in the political environment, including the possibility of holding presidential elections immediately after the conclusion of a peace agreement or the establishment of a truce.
