Xi calls Sino-Russian relations “exemplary” during meeting with Putin
Chinese President Xi Jinping met Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Beijing on Tuesday, September 2, and said both countries should promote deeper integration of their interests
According to the Chinese state agency Xinhua, Xi described Sino-Russian relations as “an example of major-country ties,” marked by eternal good neighborliness and friendship, comprehensive strategic cooperation, mutually beneficial projects, and shared gains.
According to the Russian news agency TASS, Beijing expressed readiness to coordinate with Moscow on issues of fundamental interest. China Central Television quoted Xi saying: “China is ready to strengthen high-level contacts with Russia, support each other's development and revitalization, promptly coordinate positions on issues of vital interest and major concern to both countries, and promote the further development of Sino-Russian relations.”
Xi Jinping stressed that Beijing and Moscow should promote cooperation through major projects, create landmark initiatives, and deepen integration of interests.
Following the talks, the two countries signed more than 20 documents covering cooperation in energy, artificial intelligence, aerospace, agriculture, healthcare, scientific research, education, and media.
According to the Kremlin-backed outlet RIA Novosti, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced that China will introduce a one-year trial visa-free regime for Russian citizens starting September 15.
