Putin's only option: lies

In general, imagine how humiliated Putin must feel right now.

• To show Russians and Trump that he is "winning," not losing.

• That there are no explosions in Russia every night.

• That the entire Russian military is helpless — both in attack and defense. What to do? He has to invent "encirclements" at the front.

"He knows he's lying. But lying is the only way out."

Hence the missile tests that achieve nothing. Hence the fabricated encirclements.

So that the media would quote him and create an image of a "strong" leader.

But no one believes it anymore.

Pathetic.
