Putin signs decree on drafting 133,000 people into Russian army
On September 30, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the autumn conscription to the Russian army, which is to involve 133,000 people

The relevant decree was published by the Russian Defense Ministry.
The document states that the autumn draft will be held from October 1 to December 31, 2024, and will call up Russians aged 18-30 who are not in the reserve and are subject to military service.
The decree also states that 133,000 people are to be drafted in three months.
- On August 13, Bloomberg wrote that the Russian army is facing a shortage of soldiers amid the highest losses since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Because of this, the Russian authorities may announce a new wave of mobilization.
- On August 14, it was reported that Petro Andriushchenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, believes that Russian conscripts will be used to replace contract soldiers.
