In the Lyman direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces captured 10 Russian soldiers. This was reported by the commander of the Eastern Group of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, who visited the Donetsk region the day before.

“In the Lyman direction, our defenders have repelled numerous attacks over the past few days. The enemy's attempts to seize our positions failed. The Russian troops suffered losses, and we captured 10 enemy servicemen,” he said.

According to Syrskyi, the Russian troops are trying to break through the Ukrainian defense in several directions, including Bakhmut, but are failing.

“To advance, the enemy is making every effort and is not counting on anything. Despite significant losses, new assault groups of the Wagner Group, fighters from other private companies and paratroopers are constantly being sent into the battle. However, the enemy is not able to take control of the city,” the general noted, adding that in some areas of Bakhmut, Ukrainian units counterattacked and Russian forces left some positions.

In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported that the Defense Forces' aviation launched 4 strikes on the Russian military positions, and missile and artillery units hit a control center, 2 manpower concentration areas, 2 munitions depots, as well as 1 enemy fuel and lubricant depot.

The occupying Russian troops are packing their bags

Invading Russian forces have prepared plans to evacuate employees of the occupation administrations in the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia region. This was reported by the Center for National Resistance. 

Evacuation plans for employees of the occupation administrations were developed in case the situation escalates. According to these documents, the invading Russian forces and collaborators must destroy all documentation and technical equipment that Ukraine could use against them. In addition, the occupation authorities of Crimea issued an order to the district administrations to prepare shelters for the population in case of possible 'threats' from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

A train carrying oil products burns an derails in Russia

A train carrying oil products derailed in the Bryansk region. It was caused by an explosive device. Russian media reported that a train with 60 cars loaded with oil products and construction materials derailed on May 1 on the Rasukha-Unecha stretch of railroad tracks as a result of an explosive detonation, setting off a fire.

It is reported that the incident in Bryansk region was caused by a blast on the railroad track. This resulted in a fire. The governor assured that there were no casualties.

Ukrainian military medicine has no analogues in the world, according to Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar. She also said that Ukrainian doctors teach their colleagues from abroad. 

“The Ukrainian Armed Forces, together with the Ministry of Health, have developed a very complex logistics system over the year of war and are successfully saving the lives of our heroes. The unified medical space of civilian and military medical institutions is a complex mechanism in which everything is spinning, driving, flying, and saving. All types of transport are involved, including medical aviation,” Maliar said. 

The deputy minister noted that during the war and intense fighting, of course, there are problems and things to work with. But there is also a reason to be proud: “There is every reason to be proud of our military medicine and the work of the Medical Forces! And we should bow low to them for their daily heroism.”

Three gold medals at the World Cup in gymnastics

Ukrainian gymnast Illia Kovtun won three gold medals at the World Artistic Gymnastics Cup. In total, Kovtun won four awards at the competition in Egypt.  

After winning the floor exercise and bronze on pommel horse on the first day of the finals, Kovtun won two golds on the final day of competition in Cairo. The Ukrainian won in his crown discipline on the uneven bars, where he scored 14.830 points. The 19-year-old also became the best on the uneven bars, where he earned a score of 14.100.

Another medal at the World Cup in Egypt was won by Nazar Chepurnyi, who took second place in the vault.
