Viacheslav Zaitsev, legendary "cyborg", historian, Zaporizhzhia City Council member, is killed in battle in Donetsk region

Viacheslav Zaitsev, historian and member of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, has been killed in the Donetsk region. He defended the Donetsk Airport, Southern Encirclement, and Debaltseve

This was reported by the European Solidarity party's press service. 

"Indomitable cyborg, historian, scientist, member of the city council, military serviceman who defended his country until his last breath. Viacheslav died in battle. He gave his life, destroying the enemy, for Ukraine, for each of us. We are proud to have known you, Viacheslav. Eternal memory, Hero," the press service emphasized.

Viacheslav Zaitsev is survived by his wife and small daughter.

Vakhtang Kipiani, a journalist and fighter with Ukraine's Armed Forces, also wrote about this.

"A knife to the heart again.The best of the best died in the Donetsk region. Viacheslav Zaitsev - historian, librarian, soldier, participant in the defense of the Donetsk airport, and initiator of many good deeds. A person whose friendship you can be proud of. All Zaporozhians who know him are crying now. We will take revenge for you every day," Kipiani wrote.

The Acting Mayor of Zaporizhzhia, Anatolii Kurtev, wrote that Viaacheslav joined Ukraine's Armed Forces in March 2014. He took part in the defense of Donetsk Airport, Southern Encirclement, and Debaltseve.

"From the first day of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Viacheslav once again stood up for the defense of his native country in the ranks of Ukraine's Armed Forces. He died defending the integrity of our state in the Donetsk direction. A real Ukrainian, a real patriot, a real Hero. A real Zaporizhzhia Cossack," Kurtev added.
