US won't transfer Abrams tanks to Ukraine due to technical reasons

The administration of US President Joe Biden rules out sending Abrams battle tanks to Ukraine. The White House explains this decision by technical reasons

The Washington Post reported this with reference to the words of an anonymous high-ranking official from the Biden administration.

It is noted that the US rules out sending Abrams tanks to Ukraine due to technical reasons. In a comment to the publication, the official noted that the tanks weigh 55 tons and have a gas turbine engine. It consumes a lot of fuel in operation.

He added that Abrams tanks are too heavy, can often break down and require a lot of maintenance experience.

“The battle tanks are so heavy that then-President Trump was dissuaded from plans to include them in the 2019 July Fourth celebration in Washington on grounds that their steel-plate tracks would destroy city streets,” the publication added.
