US will allocate additional USD 1.3 billion for Ukraine’s reconstruction
The United States of America will provide Ukraine with a new package of financial assistance worth $1.3 billion. The funds will be used, in particular, to restore the energy system, infrastructure, and to help enterprises
This announcement was made by the U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London.
"Today, I announce that with the support of the U.S. Congress, we will provide over $1.3 billion in additional aid. We plan to invest over $520 million to help Ukraine extensively repair its energy network, much of which was destroyed by Russia," said Blinken.
He emphasized that this investment will make the energy sector "cleaner, more resilient, integrated with Europe," and will also support energy market reforms in Ukraine, combat monopolies, and stimulate private investment. According to Blinken, this will enable Ukraine to become a major energy exporter.
The U.S. Secretary of State added that an additional $657 million will be allocated for the modernization of border checkpoints in Ukraine, railway lines, ports, and other critical infrastructure. $100 million has been allocated to fight corruption at customs and introduce digital customs, and $35 million to help entrepreneurs.
"Democracy rooted in the rule of law, a place where all Ukrainians have dignity, human rights, and the opportunity to fulfill their full potential. All the investments we make in the recovery of Ukraine are aimed at bringing Ukrainians closer to this reality," noted Blinken.
· During the Ukraine Recovery Conference, the United Kingdom also announced a "historic package of financial support for Ukraine" amounting to $3 billion. According to the UK Prime Minister, the new aid package will include $3 billion in additional guarantees to unlock World Bank financing and £240 million in bilateral assistance.
