This was stated by the US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland.
According to her, the strikes on Crimea are "part of ensuring a strong Russian deterrence."
"Russia's military bases in Crimea are legitimate targets for Ukraine. Kyiv is hitting them, and we support that. Ukraine will not be safe unless Crimea is at least demilitarized," Nuland said.
