U.S. strikes on Iran exposed Putin’s diplomatic failure – political scientist Taran
Russian leader Vladimir Putin has no intention of helping Iran and couldn’t care less about its fate
Political scientist Serhiy Taran shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
“We can say for sure that these strikes clearly showed Putin’s diplomatic failure. First, it became obvious he’s a terrible ally, his actions did nothing to protect Iran. Despite the fact that Iran was the first to send weapons during the Russian-Ukrainian war. We all remember where the Shahed drones and the tech came from,” he said.
Taran said it’s now clear Putin isn’t going to step in for Iran and doesn’t care what happens to it.
“I suspect Russia’s response to these strikes will be weak. That won’t help Putin’s reputation either. It turns out he’s not the mediator Trump once hoped he’d be, someone who could help maintain peace. This will hit Russia hard, damage Putin’s standing in the region, and send a clear message to the world that Russia isn’t as strong as it pretends to be,” the political scientist stressed.
In his view, much depends on how quickly this war ends.
“If it ends soon, we’ll have a solid reason to think Trump might show real resolve toward Russia. Especially since he doesn’t need Putin now as a go-between with Iran,” Taran concluded.
