National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said the US sees no signs that Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons, Reuters reports.
However, Russian nuclear threats cause concern in the United States, so authorities take it seriously.
“We've been clear from the outset that Russia's comments about the potential use of nuclear weapons are deeply concerning, and we take them seriously," Kirby said. "We continue to monitor this as best we can, and we see no indications that Russia is making preparations for such use."

On October 18, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said he considers probability of Russia's use of nuclear weapons against Ukraine to be low, but is closely monitoring the state and readiness of Russian nuclear forces.
