US readies more military aid for Ukraine

Reuters reported this information citing two official sources the agency contacted on Thursday.

The USD 300 million worth package could be announced as soon as Friday, but perhaps after the Memorial Day holiday weekend in the United States, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The package is expected to contain more Guided Multiple Launch Rockets (GMLRS) for HIMARS launchers, and other ammunition for Ukraine's defense against Russian military aggression.

All equipment and ammunition will be much needed in the months of fierce fighting expected this summer as Ukraine is set to launch a major counter-offensive to retake its territories.

• On May 25, Spain announced a new military aid package. It included mainly Leopard 2 tanks and a batch of M-113 armored personnel carriers.

• The previous aid package from the United States was announced on May 9. It was aimed mainly at strengthening Ukraine's air defense and meeting the needs of artillery ammunition. However, it was not an urgent delivery, but an order for the future.

• South Korea could have transferred hundreds of thousands of artillery rounds to Ukraine through the United States, but Seoul would not confirm the delivery.
