US gives Ukraine USD 215 million in new emergency food aid
The US will give Ukraine an additional USD 215 million in emergency food assistance to help battle the humanitarian crisis.
The US State Secretary Antony Blinken announced a new assistance package during a meeting at the UN, writes CNN.
"Today, given the urgency of the crisis, we're announcing another $215 million in new emergency food assistance, and we'll do much more," he said.
Blinken added that he expects the rapid adoption by the US Congress for additional funding of about $5.5 billion in humanitarian assistance and food security.
The US Secretary also said that the US would be committing $500 million to boost US production of fertilizer. It would compensate for the refusal to import Russian fertilizers. The fertilizers became more expensive in Europe as the price of the main ingredient for their production - gas - increased.
