"Understanding comes very quickly here - either you kill or you will be killed": soldier with the 128th Brigade talks about life at the front

Senior soldier with the 128th Detached Zakarpattian Mountain Assault Brigade Petro talks about life at the front and battles with the invading Russian forces

This is reported on the Facebook page of the brigade, Espreso.West reports.

The military man said that in 2021 he completed his military service, resigned in November, as well as planned to sign a contract with the Ukrainian Armed Forces after a short rest. But he did not have time - in less than three months, a full-scale war began.

"I immediately went to the military commissariat, and since I am from Chernivtsi, I got into the 128th Brigade. I can say that war and military service are completely different things. People die here and understanding comes very quickly - either you kill or you will be killed. But the military service was very useful, I didn't have to be taught elementary things, on the contrary, I myself told the soldiers something about tactical or fire training", Petro said.

The soldier also recalled how the Russian occupiers fired at the positions of Ukrainian fighters.

"We were standing in the middle of a field behind populated areas, we were often fired upon from Grads, tanks, and then from the air by Russian planes. The planes took off from the landing, fired their ammunition and immediately hid. They acted cunningly, did not fly within the range of our anti-aircraft guns  -missile complexes. I shouted: "Air!", we all fell into the trench and hid in the dugout. And a minute later we were ready for battle again. It also happened that the Russians acted very primitively - a group of 10-15 people crawled towards us on a minefield and started detonating. In addition, our machine gunners were shooting at them. Senseless losses on their part. But I don't feel sorry for them at all", he added.
