Under heavy shelling in Avdiivka, rescuers can’t pull people from rubble
In Avdiivka, rescuers cannot reach site of a missile strike to pull people from under the rubble for more than a day – due to constant shelling by the invading Russian forces
The head of the Avdiivka City Military Administration, Vitaliy Barabash, said this in a comment to Hromadske.
He noted that an 81-year-old woman has been trapped under the rubble of a five-story building since April 28. A utility worker, an electrician born in 1962, was also trapped in the rubble as a result of a Russian air strike.
“Unfortunately, there are no signs of life in either case,” the head of the city administration said.
He added that yesterday a phone and a jacket were found during the rubble removal. However, it is impossible to continue search and rescue operations without special equipment.
“On Saturday, April 29, we worked with the State Emergency Service and the head of the region to figure out how to do this. The State Emergency Service left, but before reaching Avdiivka came under fire and returned. It is impossible to enter,” Barabash said.
