UN, Ukraine agree on situation at Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant coincide - Energy Research Center director

Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center, believes that the UN has taken the correct position regarding the situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (NPP), demanding the complete demilitarization of the plant

He shared the details with Espreso TV.

"As long as Russian troops and equipment remain at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, the threat of damage to the power units will not disappear anywhere. And here it should be recognized that the UN has taken a very correct and constructive position regarding this situation. The position of the UN coincides with the best interests of Ukraine. Since the UN and Ukraine demand complete demilitarization of the Zaporizhzhia NPP", Kharchenko explained

The expert emphasized that only after the demilitarization of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, international observers can visit the station.

"The Russian military needs to leave the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Only after that, it makes sense for the IAEA mission and international observers to be there. They will be able to monitor the technical condition of the ZNPP and determine the threat of terrorist attacks, or vice versa", he added.
