UN Secretary-General heads to Washington for negotiations on grain agreement "rescue"

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is to visit Washington to meet with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to "save" the grain deal

The New York Times writes about it.

The UN secretary-general is expected to meet with Antony Blinken and members of Congress during three days of meetings in Washington after speaking with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday.

Among other topics, Antonio Guterres is expected to discuss the war in Ukraine and the grain deal, which is increasingly under threat amid complaints from Russia that aspects of the deal that would have boosted Russian grain and fertilizer exports are not adhered to, the journalists claimed.

Antonio Guterres' press secretary said on Tuesday that now is a very delicate moment in the recovery of the Black Sea Initiative.
