Ukrainians refuse to take rubles in Kherson Oblast's seized territory - Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council
The First Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council, Yuriy Sobolevsky, noted that the occupiers were forced to allow the so-called bi-currency system because people began to abandon rubles massively
He told about it on the Espreso TV channel.
"The absolute majority of people are patriotic. As soon as this whole story with deportation started and our people felt that they had eased the pressure even a little, they massively refused to accept rubles in shops, in the markets and at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant," said Yuriy Sobolevskyi.
The First Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council noted that the Russian occupiers could not force Kherson residents to use rubles, even by force.
"In other words, the ruble is an artificial story that is being forced to work. They could not do it so much, even taking into account this crazy pressure, that they were forced to allow the so-called bi-currency system, that is, you can also pay with the hryvnia and it works. In this confrontation of currencies, the hryvnia certainly won," he added.
