Ukrainian Shark and U.S. Switchblade 600 vs. Russia's Tor: Video
A recent video showcasing the destruction of a Russian Tor air missile system by Ukraine's Shark reconnaissance UAV and the U.S. Switchblade 600 reveals intriguing insights into these weapons' capabilities
Defense Express writes about it.
Yaroslav Oliynyk, advisor to the Minister of Strategic Industries, shared a video featuring the Ukrspecsystems Shark and the Switchblade 600 kamikaze drone in action against the formidable Russian Tor air missile system.
The incident, which occurred a few months ago near Kharkiv, unfolded within the enemy's second line of defense, precisely 13 km from Robotyne.
Beyond the destruction itself, the video highlights the resilience of the Shark UAV, which operated effectively despite the presence of a robust enemy electronic warfare (EW) system.
The Tor system, considered highly effective against small-sized targets like drones, initially struggled to detect the Ukrainian drone within an area blanketed by electronic interference, the article notes.
Even though Tor attempted to target the drone after changing positions, the launch was either not captured or the system failed. Eventually, the Switchblade 600 incapacitated the Tor system, rendering it immobile and forcing the crew to abandon the vehicle.
The video underscores that the Russian air defense system couldn't effectively counter the Ukrainian UAV, showcasing the limitations of both the Tor and Russian EW tools, the publication states.
The Ukrainian Shark reconnaissance drone eluded detection and destruction, and the Switchblade 600 successfully neutralized the target.
