Russia's 76th Airborne Division may be involved in executing POWs in Zaporizhzhia sector
The Prosecutor General's Office has identified the possible Russian military suspects in executing three Ukrainian prisoners of war near Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia region
Yuriy Belousov, Head of the Department for Combating Crimes in the Context of Armed Conflict of the Prosecutor General's Office, reported on Radio Liberty.
He stated that the investigation confirmed the authenticity of the video. The Prosecutor General's Office received it on December 16 and immediately launched an investigation. The Ukrainian soldiers who were shot by the Russians have now been identified. Information about the soldiers is being verified and will be made public later.
"We are now identifying those involved in this crime. We have a preliminary assumption that the 76th Airborne Division of the Russian Army is involved in the crime. But we are currently checking this information. This division is already known for war crimes committed in Ukraine, particularly in the Kyiv region," Belousov said.
The Prosecutor General office representative noted that this was not an isolated crime by Russians. Similar cases have occurred in Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. "We are talking about dozens of Ukrainian prisoners of war who were executed by the enemy. In all these investigations, we are collecting evidence and conducting investigations," Belousov added.
