Scholz declares readiness for dialog with Putin

Olaf Scholz said this during a speech in the Bundestag on the eve of the EU summit, DW reports.
According to the German chancellor, he supports negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. Scholz is ready for direct talks with Vladimir Putin.
Scholz also emphasized that decisions regarding the war should never be made "over Ukraine's head." The German Chancellor believes that negotiations with Putin should be conducted in “coordination with our closest partners.”
According to Olaf Scholz, the time has come when, in addition to clear support for Ukraine, partners should also do everything possible to figure out how to ensure that this war does not last forever.
On October 14, German government spokesman Wolfgang Buechner said that US President Joe Biden was to visit Germany at the end of the week. Earlier, he postponed the trip because of Hurricane Milton.
