Ukrainian military discusses Volyn border defense strategy
Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, says efforts to enhance the security and defense of Ukraine's state border are currently in progress within the Volyn direction. All necessary preparations have been completed to neutralize any potential threats
This was reported by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Specifically, the measures taken to strengthen the protection of the state border in the Volyn direction include an increase in the number of border patrols, monitoring of activities on the opposite side of the state border, and enhancements to combat service and intelligence capabilities.
According to Nayev, the state border of Ukraine is densely mined and, in combination with natural obstacles, creates impassable zones for enemy forces.
"Everything has been prepared for the enemy to destroy them and prevent them from entering our territory. We are taking adequate measures to strengthen the protection and defense of the state border. Right now, the number of border guard personnel has been increased. The system of defensive borders and positions is also being actively developed," said Nayev.
According to the commander of the Joint Forces, the General Staff has provided for an increase in forces in case of an escalated threat. Presently, the situation is deemed stable and within control. Ukrainian intelligence possesses precise information about the identity and activities of individuals across the border.
"If the level of military threat increases, both firepower, anti-tank weapons, air defense systems and manpower will be reinforced,” emphasized Lieutenant General.
Nayev added that he is in active communication with the Commander of the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, General Tomasz Piotrowski.
"We often meet, have phone conversations, exchange information on what Poland and other NATO countries are doing to strengthen their borders," said the Joint Forces Commander.
