Peace may not be what Ukrainian society expects, says veteran
Veteran, doctor, radio host, and musician Andriy Zholob emphasized that Russia will never give up its desire to seize Ukraine
He shared this during an interview on the Espreso TV channel.
“We must constantly be prepared for the next sabotage, for the next war from Russia. In today’s conditions, we will not fully become ‘veterans’ in the traditional sense of the word. We will always be a bigger or smaller reserve that has to be constantly ready for the fact that Russia will attack again. We will not be able to live in peace. In reality, Russia’s desire to seize our state will never disappear,” he said.
Peace may not be what Ukrainian society expects. There will be many questions in the future: "Why did all of this happen?"
“There is no ideal end to this war. The fairy tales about returning to the 1991 borders with a magic wand are just dreams. But the guys didn’t die in vain. They fought so that today we could speak freely, so that our children could study. No one wanted to die. Everyone dreamed of living, making plans. But war corrects everything. The skilled Russian forces, and I’ll definitely say that they are very skilled, do everything to destroy our soldiers,” the veteran emphasized.
Special attention will need to be paid to the families of the fallen and missing. It is they who will have the most questions, the most pain. And here lies one of the main tasks of veterans' centers.
“Our center will work in this direction, like others. It will be a sea, an ocean of work. If society tries to simply distance itself from this topic, hoping that 'it will somehow resolve itself' — the consequences could be very severe,” the veteran stressed.
- Since the beginning of April 8, 94 combat encounters were recorded along the Russian-Ukrainian front: nearly half of the attacks by the occupying Russian forcesd were carried out in the Pokrovsk direction.
