Colonel Serhiy Zakharevych, commander of the 110th mechanized brigade, killed in missile strike

“Today we lost a warrior, son, husband, father of three, my friend — Serhiy Zakharevych... You often said luck was fickle, it betrayed you many times, gave many trials, but you never broke, always moved forward no matter what,” Sobko wrote on Facebook.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed in his evening address that the death occurred as a result of a missile strike on Huliaipole.

“All day today, the clearance of debris after the strike on Huliaipole was ongoing. Unfortunately, there were losses — both military and civilian. Colonel Zakharevych, commander of the 110th Detached Mechanized Brigade, died, along with other soldiers from the brigade. My condolences to all family and friends,” he said.

Serhiy Zakharevych was a graduate of the Odesa Institute of Land Forces. After completing his studies, he led a reconnaissance platoon in the 30th Detached Mechanized Brigade. From 2010, he commanded the reconnaissance company of the 1st Tank Brigade, and later served as deputy commander of the 33rd Mechanized Brigade. In February 2025, he was appointed commander of the 110th Detached Mechanized Brigade. He was awarded the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, 3rd degree (2015) and 2nd degree (2022).
