Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry urges Austria to expel Russian ambassador because of his call to eradicate Ukrainian people
Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry has called on Austria to expel Mikhail Ulyanov, the permanent representative of the Russian Federation to international organizations in Vienna
This was announced by the spokesman of the Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry Oleg Nikolenko.
"Russian Ambassador Mykhailo Ulyanov calls for the liquidation of the Ukrainian nation. This language of genocide cannot be tolerated. We call on the entire diplomatic community in Vienna to boycott Ulyanov, and the host country, Austria, to declare him persona non grata," Nikolenko wrote on Facebook.
Yesterday, on August 19, a Russian diplomat shared a tweet by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, which referred to new supplies of military aid from the United States, with the following text: "No mercy for the Ukrainian population."
Later, Ulyanov deleted his tweet, but it still can be found in the archive.
The diplomat then said that attempts to connect his words with a call for genocide are outrageous and completely unacceptable.
"Information war has no rules. My critical observation of the policy of pumping Ukraine with weapons combined with the rejection of diplomacy (leading to further suffering) is interpreted as a call for genocide. Sneaky interpretation which has nothing to do with me and my words," - he wrote on Twitter.
