Ukrainian forces successfully attack Russian naval facilities in Crimea - Stoltenberg
Ukraine's Defense Forces launch successful attacks on Russian naval facilities in the temporarily occupied Crimea, forcing Russia to redeploy its ships
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told reporters in Brussels.
Stoltenberg was asked about Russia's intentions to deploy a naval base in Abkhazia, which was announced on October 5. In response, the NATO Secretary General said that NATO strongly supports Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty. At the same time, such intentions of the Russian Federation indicate the success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Crimea.
“This just once again violates the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and it demonstrates how far Russia is willing to go to achieve their military goals in Ukraine, but also that, actually, they have been pushed on the defensive because the Ukrainians have actually been successful in attacking naval facilities in Crimea and, therefore, Russia is looking into alternatives, demonstrating actually the achievements that the Ukrainians have made in attacking the Russian Navy,” Stoltenberg said.
