Ukrainian forces eliminate Akhmat commander 'Tarzan,' involved in 2022 civilian massacres
Ukrainian Defense Forces eliminated Umkhanov Buvaysar, the platoon commander of the Hunter Battalion from the 4th Brigade of Kadyrov’s Akhmat forces, known by the call sign "Tarzan." He had taken part in the killings of civilians in northern Ukraine in 2022
Akhmat reported the information.
"Our brother Buvaysar Khasanovich Umkhanov, call sign Tarzan, has died," the message says.
Colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Anatoliy Shtefan, known by the call sign "Shtirlits," confirmed that Ukrainian forces eliminated the fighter in Russia’s Kursk region, near the Ukrainian border.
Tarzan had actively participated in killing civilians, committing robberies, conducting raids, and looting in Ukraine’s Kyiv and Chernihiv regions during the Russian invasion in the spring of 2022.
Ukrainian authorities also added Tarzan’s name to the Myrotvorets database — an online Ukrainian platform that documents individuals considered threats to Ukraine's national security, such as war criminals and collaborators. The database noted that 48-year-old Buvaysar had also taken part in the murder of Ukrainian civilians in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. Russian forces used him as part of so-called "foreign squads."
- As of April 28, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Russian army has lost nearly 950,000 of its soldiers on the front lines in Ukraine.
