Ukrainian forces destroy Russian Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile system - General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this. 

Over the day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces' aviation launched 8 strikes on the invading Russian troops' military positions. 

Missile troops hit a Russian manpower and weapons concentration area, a Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile system, and 4 artillery pieces.

Frontline situation

Russia has unleashed another air assault on Ukraine with Shahed drones. As a result, air defense destroyed 17 attack UAVs along the route in the Sumy, Poltava, Kirovohrad, and Dnipro regions.

"Unfortunately, as a result of the strikes, an oil refinery in the Poltava region was damaged, and the relevant services are working to eliminate the consequences," the General Staff wrote.

Over the past day, Russia launched 72 airstrikes and 35 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 25 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

Russian attacks in other Ukrainian regions

• In the Kupyansk direction, 5 settlements of the Kharkiv region came under artillery shelling. 

• In the Lyman direction, over 5 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under Russian fire. 

• In the Bakhmut direction, over 20 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the invading Russian forces. 

• In the Avdiivka direction, more than 10 settlements in the Donetsk region were attacked. 

• In the Maryinka direction, over 10 settlements in the Donetsk region came under shelling. 

• In the Shakhtarsk direction, over 10 localities in the Donetsk region were shelled. 

• In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, about 30 towns and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the occupying Russian army. 

"Ukrainian Defense Forces continue offensive operations in the Melitopol sector, offensive (assault) operations in the Bakhmut sector, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, exhausting the enemy," the General Staff emphasizes.

More than 15 combat engagements took place over the day.

• On Wednesday, September 20, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully attacked the command post of the Russian Black Sea Fleet near the temporarily occupied Sevastopol.
