Ukrainian drones strike Russian airfield in Crimea, destroy Su-30SM jet
On the night of August 4, drones operated by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) struck five Russian fighter jets at the Saky military airfield in temporarily occupied Crimea
This was reported by the SBU press center.
According to the report, as part of a special operation, Ukrainian intelligence drones attacked the Saky airfield, which serves as a key Russian aviation base for operations in the Black Sea.
As a result of the strike on the airfield, an aviation ammunition depot was hit, one Su-30SM aircraft was completely destroyed, and another was damaged. Additionally, three Su-24 jets were hit.
"The enemy suffered significant losses. Just one Su-30SM jet alone is worth an average of $35 to $50 million," the SBU added.
Furthermore, the special operation damaged an aviation ammunition depot located on the airfield.
"The successful SBU operation in Saky is another step toward weakening the enemy’s ability to wage a war of aggression against Ukraine. The occupiers must remember that they will never feel safe on our land," the agency emphasized.
