Ukrainian border guards target 60 Russian soldiers trying to break through in Donetsk region

Ukraine's State Border Guard Service reported this. 

“Invading Russian forces planned to succeed in storming the positions using a significant advantage in manpower. Thus, from dawn, the Russian forces' artillery launched a massive shelling of the border guard unit's stronghold. After completing the fire mission, the enemy infantry launched an offensive,” the service said.

The border guards identified the direction of the main attack, maneuvered their unit and began to repel the attack. The Ukrainians stopped the Russians with mortar, grenade launcher and small arms fire.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces also helped in the defense of the positions, and artillery struck the area where the enemy was concentrating reserves for further engagement.

“Having failed, the enemy retreated to regroup. As a result of the combat day, more than 60 Russian invaders were killed,” the border guards said in a statement.
