Ukrainian border guards shoot down reconnaissance drone in Sumy region, and 2 more in south
Border guards have neutralized a Russian reconnaissance drone in Sumy region, and air defense forces of the South Air Command have downed 2 more UAVs over Kherson and Mykolaiv regions
Details were reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
"The border patrol, which was on duty in one of the directions of the state border, noticed the approach of an enemy copter. Border guards used an anti-drone gun and opened aimed fire from small arms, which hit the air target. The remains of the drone fell a few hundred meters from the border guards' positions," said Roman Tkach, spokesman for the Sumy border guard detachment.
According to him, most likely, it was a reconnaissance drone that collected intelligence data in the border area of Ukraine.
The State Border Guard Service added that on December 19, enemy drones flying from the territory of Russia twice dropped explosive devices on the border of the Sumy region.
Moreover, according to the Operational Command South, on December 20, within an hour, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the southern direction, the Air Command South detected and shot down 2 Russian drones. Astrike-reconnaissance Orion drone was destroyed over the Kherson region, and a tactical drone was destroyed over the Mykolaiv region.
On the night of December 18 to 19, the Ukrainian military shot down 30 out of 35 Shahed drones launched by Russian troops at Ukrainian cities from the eastern coast of the Sea of Azov.
