Ukrainian Armed Forces up their game in Kherson region, Russian army increases control over population - Kherson official
The First Deputy Head of the Kherson Regional Council, Yuriy Sobolevsky, has said that Russian forces are currently preventing people from leaving or entering all populated areas, and are stopping public transport to carry out 'checks' on people.
He told Espreso about this.
"The work of the armed forces makes the occupiers more nervous, that's why the Russians constantly detain local residents and carry out filtering. The Russians clean up some settlements completely. That is, a large number of Russian Guardsmen, FSB employees and the so-called local police arrive and close the settlement for entry and exit, and then they go around all the houses, check absolutely everything, from documents and vehicles to interrupting gardens and looking for hiding places," said the deputy of the regional council.
Yuriy Sobolevsky added that the occupiers take such measures systematically. In Kherson last week, the Russian military ransacked almost all garage cooperatives and private garages, some of the vehicles were confiscated, which is a common robbery of people.
"The occupiers can detain citizens, for example, by stopping public transport and performing a total check of the documents of all passengers, and they can take someone away. If they detain a person without documents, there is a high probability that they will be sent to the basement. And if they found something on the phone that they did not like, that is, there is a photo of a person in a military uniform, then this is one hundred percent detention and interrogation. The same attention is paid to private correspondence, if they check phones and see that there are uninstalled messengers, then they install them themselves, then they pull up the archive and carefully check it. And if there is, the word "orc" means trouble, because they react very negatively to it," explained Sobolevsky.
