Today, on October 7, Russia's Eastern Military District commander, Aleksandr Chayko, was dismissed from his post, and the so-called Donetsk-Luhansk direction, in which Ukraine's Armed Forces have charted some success, is under his purview.

Oleh Katkov, Defense Express Editor-in-Chief, said this on Espreso TV.

"Ukraine's Armed Forces have certain successes. In fact, the important aspect is that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' successes also have certain actions in the Kremlin. Literally today, the commander with Russia's Eastern Military District was dismissed from his post, and the so-called Donetsk-Luhansk direction, in which Ukraine's Armed Forces have some success, is precisely in his area of responsibility. In particular the districts of Bakhmut, Siversk, Severodonetsk, and Lysychansk... And Aleksandr Chayko was in this position. He was appointed less than a year ago, and today he was dismissed. Today, Rustam Muradov, who was previously the commander with one of the Russian groups in Ukraine, was appointed in his place. And the change of the commander of the forces of the military district at the time of the so-called partial mobilization and intensification of hostilities, in my opinion, is a pretty good sign that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' successes may even be affected by fanatical disturbances in the general headquarters of the Russian Federation," he said.

The Defense Express Editor-in-Chief made a cautious assumption that Kadyrov played an important role in Rustam Muradov's career growth, which could mean extremely interesting changes in the Russian Ministry of Defense with the replacement of the entire generalship with Kadyrov's "people".

"If we continue about Muradov, it is important to remember this aspect that he began his groundbreaking career after commanding a motorized rifle brigade directly in Chechnya. This reminds him of another Russian general, who now commands the so-called space forces of the Russian Federation, and his career also began very actively precisely after the service in Chechnya. And most likely, it is possible to make a cautious assumption that Muradov is directly in the orbit of Kadyrov, which is again possible confirmation that the General Staff of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Defense as a whole will now be changed under Kadyrov," Oleh Katkov noted.
