Ukrainian Armed Forces repel 19 attacks in 24 hours, Russian soldiers arrive in Belarus for combat training - General Staff

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces shared the information in a morning briefing on May 29.

Russian troops are trying to gain control of the entire Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

Over the past day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 19 attacks.

Russia launches 97 air strikes and 39 MLRS attacks on Ukraine 

The General Staff notes that Russia continues to wage a war of aggression, regardless of losses. It continues to disregard the International Humanitarian Law, conducts strikes and shells not only military but also civilian objects.

On the night of May 29, Russian troops launched another missile and air strike with Shahed drones against Ukraine. Information on the consequences of the terrorist attack is currently being clarified.

In total, over the past day, May 28, Russian troops launched 97 air strikes, including 59 Iranian Shahed attack UAVs. 58 Shaheds were destroyed by Ukrainian defenders.

Russians also fired 39 MLRS attacks at Ukrainian troop positions and populated areas.

The threat of missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine remains high.

Situation by directions

On the northern border with Belarus, the operational situation remains stable, with no signs of offensive groups forming.

Certain units of the Russian Armed Forces are arriving at training grounds in Belarus to conduct combat training before being sent to war in Ukraine.

On the northeastern border with Russia, the Russian army continues to maintain its military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine. 

Over the past day, it conducted air strikes near 5 settlements in the Sumy region and 2 other in the Kharkiv region.

It fired mortar and artillery shells at 18 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy region, and Kharkiv regions.

In the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops launched unsuccessful attacks near Masiutivka over the past day. They also launched an air strike near Kyslivka, Kharkiv region.

Nine settlements in the Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops did not launch any assaults yesterday.

However, they launched air strikes near 7 settlements in Kharkiv, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions.

Five settlements in Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, Russian troops launched unsuccessful attacks northeast of Orikhovo-Vasylivka and in the direction of Ivanivske. 

They launched air strikes near 5 settlements in the Donetsk region and shelled 11 settlements.

In the Avdiivka direction, Russian troops did not launch any assaults, but did launch air strikes near 3 settlements in the Donetsk region. 

They fired artillery at Avdiivka and 2 more settlements in the Donetsk region.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 12 Russian attacks near the town of Marinka. Russians launched an air strike near the town and shelled another settlement in the Donetsk region.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops launched unsuccessful attacks near a settlements in the Donetsk region and an air strike near Vuhledar. 

They shelled 6 settlements.

In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian troops are on the defensive. They launched an air strike near Beryslav, Kherson region. 

They also shelled 21 settlements in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions. 

Ukrainian defense forces destroy 6 control points, an artillery unit at a firing position and a Tor missile system

Over the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian defense forces launched 15 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel and military equipment, as well as 6 on its anti-aircraft missile systems.

At the same time, Ukrainian missile and artillery units struck 3 concentrations of weapons and military equipment, S-300 and Tor anti-aircraft missile systems, 6 command posts, an electronic warfare station, an artillery unit at a firing position, and an ammunition depot.

Ukraine's defenders also managed to destroy a reconnaissance UAV over the past day.
