Ukrainian Armed Forces likely liberate five settlements on day one of Kherson region counteroffensive - ISW
According to unofficial data, the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated five settlements in Kherson region during day one of the counteroffensive.
This is reported by the Institute for the Study of War.
ISW draws attention to the fact that Russian and Western sources claimed that during the first day of the counteroffensive in the Kherson region, Ukrainian troops liberated five settlements.
In particular, according to the American TV channel CNN, the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated Pravdyne (34 km northwest of Kherson), Novodmytrivka, and Tomina Balka (both approximately 23 km west of Kherson). CNN's source also said that Ukrainian forces recaptured Arkhangelsk on the eastern bank of the Ingulets River, south of the border of Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
ISW emphasizes that it cannot verify CNN's data. Also, American experts draw attention to the fact that at the time of publication, the Armed Forces had not announced the liberation of any population center.
However, the Ukrainian official report on the departure of the 109th regiment, which operates in the north-west of the Kherson region, may indicate that the Ukrainians crossed through Ingulets to Arkhangelsk.
ISW also noted that several Russian military bloggers reported that Ukrainian troops had advanced 6 km from their bridgehead over the Ingulets River.
