Ukrainian Armed Forces could form basis for Europe's future security architecture - political scientist Tsybulko

Ukraine's accession to the EU will reshape the Union politically, economically, and security-wise

The political scientist Volodymyr Tsybulko shared the details with Espreso TV.

"Ukraine is too important a factor for reformatting the EU. Old Europe now has the opportunity within the framework of the European Parliament to form policies in the interests of the France-Germany axis. They were initially afraid of the UK and did not allow their initiatives to take off. The UK understood that the EU is entering a burdensome history, when everything rests on the size of cucumbers, and not on the place and role of European security. The EU bureaucracy has driven Europe into a very consumerist format, not a strategic one", he said.

According to Tsybulko, the appearance of Ukraine in Europe will force the reform of the composition of the European Parliament.

"The Central European conglomerate of countries will form its EP, it will always have a certain majority of votes. We are talking about the countries of the Three Seas. Most of these countries are post-Soviet countries or from the orbit of Soviet influence, and they form a more radical discourse in relations with the Russian Federation, which does not like the old  Europe", the political scientist added.

He added that Germany and France have been increasing their presence on the Russian market since the beginning of Russia's aggression against Ukraine in 2014.

"They still have a memory of a fairly well-fed Russia with incomes of about USD 1,000 per worker. And now Russia is poor, and this market cannot be returned. The Russian Federation will not return to the economic levels they dream of. Isn't it more rational to invest in Ukraine, to create a decent consumer market that would also ensure the sale of a huge amount of products?" - Tsybulko said.

According to him, the EU will be different with the accession of Ukraine.

"Ukraine claims a leading role in some industries. For example, in defense, armored vehicles, and radar. It will play a rather prominent role in the space industry. The market and role of certain countries within the EU will be redistributed. The Ukrainian aviation and missile segment could strengthen Europe. And there is also the factor of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. As of now, this is the most capable army in Europe. This factor can be the basis for the formation of the future security architecture of the whole of Europe", the political scientist concluded.
