Ukrainian Armed Forces control some positions in Bakhmut – military expert

He said this on Espreso TV. 

"Slowly, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces are covering the Russians from the south and north of Bakhmut. It's too early to talk about encirclement, but the firepower of the Defense Forces is not only in the city, but also in the eastern sector. That is, the logistics east of Bakhmut is also under our fire," noted Kovalenko.

According to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are advancing every day, there are no pauses.

"This shows that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have the initiative in the south and north of the city. In addition, interesting events are taking place in the city itself. The Ukrainian Armed Forces already control some positions in the city itself. That is, the Russians are losing control of Bakhmut. They still have the ability to maneuver freely. Until the enemy suffers maximum losses, which will occur when the Russians are trapped in a separate sector," Kovalenko emphasized.

• Since the beginning of the Ukrainian counteroffensive in the Bakhmut sector, the military have liberated an area of more than 30 km². In the Melitopol and Berdiansk sectors, almost 180 km² of Ukrainian land were de-occupied.

• The Russian army has concentrated its main efforts in the Kupiansk sector and continues its offensive, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding the line. The enemy is moving reserves to the Bakhmut direction to stop the advance of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
