Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba reported the information.
"This week, Ukraine’s Antonov AN-124 delivered 101 tons of humanitarian aid to Incirlik Air Base to help families affected by recent earthquakes. Coordinated by French armed forces, delivered by Ukrainian aircraft, unloaded by Turkish and American military. As allies, we come together in trying times," the minister wrote.
On February 6, two powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquakes occurred in southeastern Turkey and northwestern Syria.
According to preliminary estimates, the earthquakes in Turkey will cause the country's economy to lose about 10% of GDP, or USD 84 billion. The confirmed death toll from the destruction in both countries has already exceeded 50,000 people.
After the powerful earthquake in Turkey, law enforcement officials detained or issued arrest warrants for more than 180 people involved in the construction of collapsed houses.
The World Bank estimates that the direct physical damage to Turkey as a result of the devastating earthquakes on February 6 is USD 34.2 billion.
