"During the talks, we touched upon the issue of establishing a special tribunal for Russia's aggression against Ukraine. We also discussed cooperation with the International Criminal Court and support for our soldiers. Latvia is constantly helping Ukraine," said Levits.
He emphasized that he calls on the allies to provide Ukraine with the weapons they promised as soon as possible.
"Latvia's support for Ukraine has exceeded 1% of GDP, including the latest aid package. And this is only about military support, which is a priority for us. In the coming months, we will face decisive battles, and we will definitely support Ukraine," the president added.
According to him, Latvia will contribute to the restoration of the Chernihiv region.
In general, following the visit, the presidents signed a joint declaration stating full support for Ukraine, as well as its future membership in the EU and NATO.
"We have signed a joint declaration with Mr. President, which confirms Latvia's support for Ukraine's full European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Only with Ukraine as a member will the European project be complete, only with Ukraine will NATO become a strong defender of Europe and common values," Zelenskyy said.
He expressed confidence that Latvia and President Levits would become "powerful assistants to Ukraine in bringing to justice all Russian murderers, terrorists and torturers."
