Ukraine’s soldiers down Russian Su-25 with MANPADS and damage another one near Melitopol
A Zaporizhzhia serviceman and his brother-in-arms hit a pair of Su-25s trying to attack the positions of the Defence Forces in the Zaporizhzhia direction
This was reported by the National Guard of Ukraine.
Today, on 25 May, Russian occupation forces attempted to strike the positions of the Ukrainian Defence Forces using a pair of Su-25s from the air.
National Guardsmen - Zaporizhzhia serviceman and his comrade-in-arms - were on combat duty. They identified the enemy aircraft and accurately fired on air targets with man-portable air defence systems.
As a result, the first Su-25 was completely destroyed, and its pilot managed to eject over the temporarily occupied territory. The second aircraft was shot down by a National Guard soldier with the call sign Zaporizhzhia Avenger. The enemy Su-25 was severely damaged and had to make an emergency landing. At the end of the runway, Melitopol residents saw a black column of smoke, and before that, dull explosions were heard.
According to the National Guard, the Zaporizhzhia Avenger has already destroyed a total of 7 enemy aircraft.
