Ukraine’s National Information Bureau opens missing persons hotline
Ukraine's National Information Bureau has launched a new missing persons' hotline service, dedicated to searching for people who disappeared or were taken hostage during the war
Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malar shared the update on the official Facebook page.
“If you are searching for your relatives who disappeared or were taken hostage during the war, call the National Information Bureau hotline 1648 or +380442878165 (calls from abroad).”
The National Bureau was created after the Court decision from March 17th 2022. It was created to collect data about taken hostage, dead, missing or illegally detained by the Russian occupants troops and civilians.
It is predicted that the Bureau will help activate the process of hostage and killed troops exchange, while also attracting attention to Russia’s war crimes in Ukraine.
The Bureau works according to the International Humanitarian Law, and the Article 122 of the Geneva Convention about treating the military hostages and about defence of civilians.
