
Ukraine's Ministry of Culture allows OCU to hold Christmas service in Assumption Cathedral of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra
The Ministry of Culture has given permission for the head of Ukraine's Orthodox Church (OCU), Metropolitan Epiphanius, to hold a Christmas service in the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on January 7

On January 5, the issue of holding a divine service in the main cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was discussed.
“During the meeting, a member of the commission, Kononets, asked a question to the acting general director of the reserve, Oleksandr Rudnyk, regarding the availability of requests from the OCU and permission to hold religious services in the Assumption Cathedral. To which Rudnyk replied that as of 11:41 on 01/05/2023 there were no requests and orders regarding the holding of religious services of the OCU. At the same time, in the afternoon of January 5, 2023, an appeal was received from the Office of the Kyiv Metropolis of the OCU to hold services in the Assumption Cathedral on January 7, 2023,” the message says.
According to the ministry, after considering the appeal, the reserve granted permission to hold religious services on January 7, 2023 in the Assumption Cathedral and concluded a corresponding agreement with the OCU.
