Ukraine's forces thwart Russian offensive, capture 9 soldiers near Pokrovsk
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian border guards successfully repelled a series of assault attacks by Russian troops and captured nine soldiers
Ukraine's Border Guard Service reported the information.
According to the report, soldiers of the Chernihiv detachment’s rapid response border commandant’s office continue to hold the line in the Pokrovsk direction, where Russian forces are attempting to break through with small assault groups.
On August 24, Ukrainian defenders repelled another assault, capturing six Russian soldiers. A few days earlier, border guards had captured three more Russian soldiers.
The captured troops come from various regions, including occupied Donetsk, Udmurtia, and Ossetia.
Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service reported that in 2025, 911 men aged 18–60 were detained at the Ukrainian-Belarusian border — twice the number over the previous three years of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
